Black Friday week CPMs on Meta run two to three times normal. Every consumer brand knows this, and most respond the same way: more discount, more budget, same creative. That is how a brand ends up paying double for the same attention it bought in September.

Cyber Week did $44.2 billion online in 2025 according to Adobe, up 7.7% in a year. Social's share of Cyber Monday revenue grew 56.5%, faster than any other channel in the report. Mobile crossed 60% of sales on Thanksgiving for the first time. The money is moving to paid social on a phone, and the auction for that phone is the most expensive it will be all year.

When impressions cost double, creative is the only lever left. This post is about why street polling is the creative that wins that auction for consumer brands, what six years of our data says about it, and what a CPG brand needs to have done by mid-October to be ready.

Why scripted creative loses in an expensive auction

Meta's auction rewards engagement. In a normal month, a polished studio ad can buy its way through with budget. In Cyber Week, the budget is competing with every other brand's budget, so the ad that earns the watch time, the comments, and the shares gets the cheaper impressions.

A stranger reacting to your product on a sidewalk earns that engagement in a way a paid presenter cannot. The viewer does not have to believe the brand. They have to believe the person, and the person is not selling anything.

That is the whole mechanism. It is simple, and it is why, in our poll database, unscripted reaction hooks hold their click-through rate in November while scripted hooks fall off as the feed fills with discounts.

What the Street Poller dataset says about consumer categories

Street Poller Media has captured more than 300,000 street polls since 2020. Roughly a third of the brands we signed between May and August 2026 are consumer packaged goods, supplements, or e-commerce. That is not a new category for us. It is the largest single group of reels on our own site, and it is where several of our best-known results come from: Fudge Fuel at 4.3X ROAS and 15,000-plus new customers, Seed Oil Scout at 3.8X ROAS, and now Cold Life and Heart & Soil.

Three patterns hold across that data.

First, the question matters more than the product. A poll that asks a stranger about a habit ("do you take anything for recovery?") outperforms a poll that asks about the brand, because the reaction is about the person's life, not the label.

Second, reaction type is predictable by category. Surprise reactions win in food and beverage. Recognition reactions ("oh, I have seen this") win in supplements and wellness. Skeptical-then-convinced reactions win in higher-ticket e-commerce. We know this before the shoot, so the first round of testing starts from a baseline instead of from zero.

Third, iteration beats volume. Twenty variants cut from the right poll beat a hundred variants cut from the wrong one. This is why the paid-media loop matters as much as the footage.

CYBER WEEK 2025, BY THE NUMBERS

$44.2B online across Cyber Week, up 7.7% year over year (Adobe)

+56.5% growth in social media's share of Cyber Monday revenue, the fastest-growing channel in the report

2 to 3x Black Friday week CPMs on Meta versus a normal week

61.6% of Thanksgiving online sales on mobile, the first time mobile crossed 60%

A consumer brand in its first month

During the first month of its partnership with Cold Life, a Street Poller ad was scaled to approximately $14,000 in profitable daily ad spend within days of launch. The campaign held its target return while the daily budget was raised to that level. That is spend, not profit, and we say that plainly because the number a growth team cares about is how much spend a creative can absorb before efficiency breaks.

Cold Life sells cold-exposure and recovery products to an audience that has heard every wellness claim and believes almost none of them. The ad that scaled did not make a claim. It showed a reaction. Heart & Soil, a whole-food supplement brand, runs on the same system.

The two objections we hear from CPG brands

"Our brand is premium and street content looks cheap." Premium brands worry that a sidewalk looks off-brand. What the data shows is that authenticity reads as confidence. A brand willing to let a stranger react to its product on camera is signaling that the product can take it. Polished ads signal the opposite.

"We already do UGC." User-generated content is a paid creator holding your product and reading a brief. The viewer knows. Street polling is a person who did not know the camera was coming, reacting to a question. The difference shows up in the comments first and in the CPA second.

What a CPG brand needs done by October 15

Cyber Week creative has to be in market and tested by early November, which means the first shoot happens in early October and the first round of results is read by the middle of the month. Brands that sign a creative partner after October 15 are testing during the sale, which is the most expensive time to learn anything.

The sequence that works: one shoot in the first week of October, twenty-plus variants cut from it, a testing budget in the second week, winners identified by the third, and the scale plan locked before Thanksgiving week. Every part of that is faster when the starting point is a dataset instead of a guess.

The payoff

Consumer brands do not need more creative for Black Friday. They need creative that earns attention when attention is at its most expensive. Six years of street polling data, a certified poller network across six states, and a paid-media loop that learns from every round is how Street Poller Media delivers that, and it is why consumer brands have become the largest group of new signings this year. BEFORE OCTOBER 15

Cyber Week creative has to be shot in the first week of October and tested by the middle of the month. Brands that sign a creative partner after October 15 are learning during the sale, at the most expensive CPMs of the year.
